An End-of-year Message From Director Kevin Zaczkiewicz
Posted: 06-18-2008
Dear Friends of the Parkside Band, Looking back on my first year at Parkside, I am extremely pleased with the Marching/Symphonic Band’s progress. Continuing in Parkside’s tradition of excellence, we ended our Marching season with a final performance of “Night Visions” at ACC’s. In addition to very successful Holiday and Spring concerts, we recently earned an overall superior rating at District Festival. I am very excited for next year and judging by our recent auditions, I’m looking forward to a very successful 2008 competition season. This year was also a great year for the Parkside Small Ensembles. The Jazz Band put on a great show at their concert, the Percussion Ensemble hosted my friend and mentor Professor George Willis at our first annual “Parkside Night of Percussion”, and the Brass Quintet traveled to State Solo & Ensemble festival and received a rating of “Superior”. I look forward to continuing these small groups next year as well as developing more groups in the future. Thanks for all your extra effort! I’d like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Parkside Band Boosters for their tireless efforts in helping this organization be successful. Without your support we would not be able to run an organization of this magnitude, or provide our students with all of the great opportunities that exist for them now. Also, very special thanks to our Booster Executive Board: Marsi Miranda, Felipe Arroyo, Tammy Farley, Betty Gertsch, and Cindi Hildreth. It absolutely amazes me how well you all work together. Thank you for all of your unselfish time and efforts. Finally, I’d like to thank the students of the Parkside Band Program. It’s truly been a wonderful experience working with such a dedicated, hard working, classy, and talented group of students. You are all very creative people. There is not a place I’d rather be than with you here at Parkside. You all make me look forward to coming to work everyday! Have a safe and enjoyable summer and don’t forget to practice…Band Camp is right around the corner!!! Sincerely, KZ
